The central position of the FAL A350 factory on the Airbus industrial site of St Eloi in Toulouse, places this factory in co-visibility of many other industrial plants and of the airport. This factory has the mission to fit smartly into the landscape, but also to regulate the buildings to come; the next generation of planes will owe to some extent their image to this architectural expression: technical innovation and assembly of new materials.
Cardete Huet’s proposal is to uplift a building which, as far as possible, embraces the contemporary aspect of its content. The buildings are of various forms and colours, linked to the different steps of the process. They also allow upgradability without altering the overall image, additional buildings being able to “connect as per requirements” at the foot of the large naves.
